A program system, the GEORGE System, has been developed for modelling finite element structures. GEORGE consists of a number of modules, most of which operate in a graphic and interactive way using graphic display terminals. The system is used to generate total input data for existing finite element programs (FEM) for calculation of plates, shells, beams, frames, trusses, and solid element bodies. A substantial reduction, 75 to 95%, of the total man-time for generating FEM models has been achieved.
