People’s need for information also increases markedly during emergencies, and the media have an important part to play in meeting this need. The manual is based on research in the field of crisis communication, on the knowledge base built up by the Swedish emergency management agency (SEMA), from various seminars, exercises, training courses in this sphere, and on exchanges with Swedish and foreign authorities and media representatives.
