The basic aim of the study is to analyze how dangerous developments in the Middle East could spread, eventually to Sweden. The problem is handled in three steps: 1 First, the developments in different subregions of the Middle East are discussed. 2 Second, these developments are used as inputs to construct integrated scenarios of the future for the whole region. 3 Third, the mechanisms by which the conflicts can spread are analyzed.
