The COVID-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented challenge to societies across the globe, not least in the world of work. At the outset, relatively little was known about the virus particularly how it spread which led to considerable uncertainty. As a result, many hygiene and protective measures implemented in workplaces were based on limited knowledge and, in hindsight, some of these have proven to be of questionable relevance or effectiveness. Still, the workplace was recognised early on as a central site for both transmission and containment, and occupational safety and health (OSH) quickly became a vital part of the broader infection control strategy. Occupational health and workplace infection control go hand in hand. This report is the outcome of a unique and truly joint research project in the history of the Perosh network. Unlike many earlier Perosh projects, this initiative was conceived, carried out, and reported as a genuine Perosh project. It is therefore not a project owned by one or a few members of the network and later repackaged under the Perosh name. In this respect, the experiences from this project can serve as a valuable prototype for future Perosh-owned projects.
