The shelter occupancy studies, (1) 38 subjects for 8 days, (2) 100 subjects for 12 hours, and (3) 402 subjects for 2 days, were conducted to determine the effects of the Package Ventilation Kit (PVK) on shelter occupancy.
The PVK integrates into the shelter system without causing any major problems. The PVK can be assembled under crowded conditions but correct PVK deployment is a problem for the shelterees. Shelterees are willing to operate the PVK, but the addition of a tachometer inreases the probability that the PVK operation is within the design speeds.
Small shelter orientation obtained from current shelter management training courses handicaps the shelter manager in large shelters.
