This report gives a brief description of a joint Nordic research programme on the use of advanced information technology in emergency management. So far a couple of needs assessment studies on the use of advanced information technology within Swedish nuclear power emergency preparedness organizations, have been completed in a joint effort by STUDSVIK and the Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate. Some of the results from these studies will be presented in this report together with a few preliminary ideas regarding a prototype multifunctional decision support system in emergency management.
