In 1992 an investigation was made into the lockers and stowage systems used on fire appliances. Brigades, manufacturers and associated organisations were visited, both in the UK and in Europe. This report brings together and discusses the trends and features of the systems encountered, and examines some of the broader influences on their design. In general a move towards more adaptable, flexible stowage was encountered, with a number of methods being used to improve access to equipment.
