High intensity planned burning is defined as the removal by intense fire within pre-determined boundaries of much of the fuels created by logging or clearing operations to achieve prescribed management objectives (e.g. site preparation for rapid seedling growth etc.) The management objectives will determine the amount of fuel to be removed, which will in turn influence the prescriptions used for conducting the burn.
